Seminar 9: Reel Science & Optimum Cut Technology

PRE-BOOKING ONLY AVAILABLE FOR BIGGA MEMBERS

seminar will focus on how to maintain high quality of cut standards while maximising the overall performance of the reel drive and traction system investments.

Quality of cut and performance of cutting equipment go hand in hand and this seminar will provide greenkeepers with knowledge that will be useful whether they have their own grinder or if they contract out. More frequent top‐dressing, lower heights of cut, harder metals and newer hybrid technologies all contribute to a need for more knowledge, as the merits of spin grinding, relief grinding and other maintenance practices come together on one platform.

Learning Outcomes:

• Understand the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) “standard” for reel design

• Learn the merits of spin grinding, relief grinding and other practices that exist in the field that contributes to maximum performance

• How turf health is affected by dull cutting units and the negative impact it has on related chemical cost and water usage

• The positives and negatives of “Backlapping” and the role this maintenance practice can play in staying on cut...

• Addressing health and safety concerns in the grinding workshop environment

• Maximising productivity in the workshop
