Compost and Compost Extracts

The use of compost extracts, teas and other microbial inoculants has increased significantly in recent years in both amenity and agricultural settings. The use of these inoculants presents an opportunity for greenkeepers to repopulate the rootzone with beneficial microorganisms which support turf growth and immunity. This half day workshop will outline the principles of production and practical application considerations.

Learning Outcomes:
• Producing quality compost
• Using compost as a biofertiliser
• Principles of compost extract and tea production
• Application considerations
• Using biology for thatch management
• Disease suppressive qualities of compost extracts
