Soil Food Web: Principles and Practice

This half day workshop will explore the importance of soil and rootzone microbiomes in supporting turf growth. You will gain insight into the dynamic nature of plant-microbe interactions that take place in the rhizosphere and how to manage these processes to optimise turf health and quality.

Learning Outcomes:
• Introduction to soil biology
• Microorganisms and their functions in soil and rootzone ecosystems
• Balancing fungi: bacteria to alleviate weed pressure
• Biological cycling of nutrient reserves
• Function and fate of root exudates
• Soil organic carbon dynamics
