General manager and course manager symposium

BIGGA and the GCMA are pleased to collaborate on the General Manager and Course Manager Symposium at BTME.

BTME is the annual gathering in Harrogate for turf managers organised by BIGGA and has long been a festival of learning for the golf course management industry. Many golf club general managers attend and take part in the top-class education on offer. In 2026, for the first time we are curating an education experience for general managers and course managers on key topics that affect the golf facility.

These topics will include:

• Water management – sources, resilience, long term planning and efficiency
• Staffing – recruitment, development and retention of greenkeeping staff
• Career progression – from course manager to general manager and beyond
• Budgeting – planning, purchasing and monitoring
• Communication – internal and external communication regarding the course and club
• Major event hosting – preparing for and hosting major tournaments
